Dutch Beginners Course 1+2 (A0 -> A1+) - Start 27 July - Track

Description

Would you like to go a bit further than being able to order a drink? The four-week track, a combination of course 1 + 2,  is meant for people who want to make a lot of progress. It is designed specifically for beginners with no prior knowledge of the Dutch language. In this course, you will learn to communicate in Dutch at level A1+. 

In a small class of up to 16 students and under the guidance of a qualified teacher you will quickly develop your Dutch language skills. You will take your first steps in learning the Dutch language in a pleasant and supportive environment. Aside from the essential grammar and vocabulary work, we will use a variety of interactive exercises. Expect lots of pronunciation practice and engaging group discussions. You will also do writing assignments and short presentations that prepare you for real-life situations. 

In just four weeks: 

• You will introduce yourself and have basic conversations.
• You will make appointments and place orders.
• You will discuss topics related to travel and leisure in the Netherlands.
• You will become acquainted with typical Dutch customs and habits.
• You will speak basic Dutch with confidence (pronunciation, responding, conversations).
• You will improve your understanding of spoken and written Dutch.
• You will acquire elementary vocabulary.
• You will learn essential grammar (word order, past perfect, comparative forms and pronouns).
• You will form sentences in the past tense.

The Babel institute is situated in a monumental building in the centre of Utrecht. We encourage you to explore this beautiful part of the Netherlands in your free time and practise your newly acquired skills with Dutch locals.

Registration information: 
Registration closes four weeks before the start of the course. You can apply via this website. You do not have to take a level placement test, as this is a beginner’s course.

Target audience

This course is suitable for learners with no prior knowledge of Dutch. It will predominantly be taught in Dutch, with English as a supporting language. A good command of English is therefore required.

Aim of the course

This course aims to improve your Dutch language skills up to CEFR level A1+. At the end of the course, you are able to: 

• Understand and use common expressions and basic phrases.
• Request and exchange information for simple and routine matters.
• Have simple conversations, provided the other person talks slowly and clearly.
