A state-of-the-art summer course on childhood cancer, with a focus on neuro-oncology, solid tumors and hemato-oncology. In addition, much attention is paid to the latest developments in the field of research, (bio)medicine and patient centered care.
Throughout this course you will learn more about the latest knowledge in the area of childhood cancer. This course will bring students up to speed on state-of-the-art treatment, innovative (bio)medicine and patient centred care in childhood cancer.
Students participating in this course on childhood cancer will receive training in a stimulating academic environment created by the interaction of committed paediatric oncologists, research-oriented physicians, and fellows.
This course will be offered by the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology. The Princess Máxima Center is a Dutch, European and worldwide centre of expertise for paediatric oncology. We are filled with boundless ambition, to cure each child with cancer, with optimal quality of life.
The objective of this course is to gain theoretical and practical experience in the fields of neuro-oncology, solid tumours and hemato-oncology including stem cell transplantation. You will also learn about disease-independent topics such as novel insights in tumour biology, molecular imaging, personalised medicine, quality of life issues and late effects of disease and treatment.
Every day the group of multidisciplinary students starts together with a case study. During the day the different groups of students (e.g. (bio)medical and nursing) will continue with their own discipline.

Professionals from the healthcare and research department of the Princess Máxima Center.
This course is intended for - medical - biomedical science - pharmacy - nursing - other health care students (eg physiotherapy, psychology, pharmacy) who want to learn about childhood cancer, care and working in an international and interdisciplinary context.
To provide students with the latest knowledge in the area of pediatric oncology.
For Butterfly-students, fellows and phd-students, already working at the Princess Máxima Center of UMC Utrecht, we have a special course fee of € 150.
The housing costs do not include a Utrecht Summer School sleeping bag. This is a separate product on the invoice. If you wish to bring your own bedding, please deselect or remove the sleeping bag from your order once you apply for the course.
