In this Summer School we will discuss entrepreneurial ecosystem development around the globe. The course provides in-depth understanding on how entrepreneurial ecosystems develop. The course includes an overview and discussion of relevant theories for understanding entrepreneurial ecosystem development, sharing insights from the recent Encyclopaedia of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems. Next to the science of entrepreneurial ecosystem development, we will also review and discuss entrepreneurial ecosystem interventions. Finally, we will introduce and use datasets on entrepreneurial ecosystems and entrepreneurship around the globe, from the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD), the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the World Bank, the Africa Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Index (AEEI), Grupo de Ecosistemas Inteligentes de America Latina (GEIAL) and the European regional entrepreneurial ecosystem dataset. These data and analytics will be used for scientific purposes, and for improving interventions by investors and governments, including ex-ante diagnostics and ex-post monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL).
